My story:  I was abandoned in the National Garden of Greece. The co-founder of ZSP discovered me in April 2017. I was a very thin male dog. I followed her, and unfortunately had an injured / broken paw and some injuries on my belly. But I still rolled over for her to be petted.  I desperately tried to follow people. Everybody. Especially those with children! Unfortunately, the co-founder of ZSP had to witness two men in their mid-40s kicking me badly. I whined and cried but did not fight back. Of course, she intervened immediately. But it was clear that I was not safe there. Later on I arrived in a shelter where they took care of my injuries and where I was nourished back to health. But it was clear that I am no shelter dog. I am an explorer and need a lot of space to run to be happy.

In April 2018, Silja, the co-founder of ZSP flew with me to NYC where I was first fostered by her and her dog trainers. I had a lot of requests but it was never the right home for me. Finally 4 weeks after my arrival, Silja found Janet who owns a massive 6 acre farm in Upstate New York with her husband Duane. They clicked during the first video call interview and it was clear that this could be my new home. Silja and Theo from ZSP drove up for 7h (one way!) to meet with Janet and Duane and stayed for a weekend close by. After the weekend, they returned and I gave very clear signs to Silja that I REALLY wanted to stay! I now live with my two female canine friends, eight cats, and 2 horses and have so much space. The farm is in the middle of a forest and Janet goes on long walks with me and my friends. The large farm house has dog beds everywhere and I can choose wherever I want to sleep. So far I have not yet chosen to sleep in Janet's bed, but I could if I wanted to. Janet worked for 25 years at SPCA and is very dog experienced and both Janet and Duane are in love with me and I am in love with them and already have come out of my shell !
