Dog Microchip Lottery Aegina

What are the conditions that you are eligible to register

Do you own one or more dogs and are a citizen of Aegina or have an Aegina address in your tax returns? You will be eligible to take part into the lottery after you have micro chipped and registered your dogs into the Aegina municipality and YOU CAN WIN EUR 200 EVERY TWO WEEKS FOR 12 MONTHS ! 

In order to qualify for the lottery you need to tick all the boxes below:

• You are a dog owner and live in Aegina as a citizen of Aegina or have an Aegina address in your tax returns
• All of your dogs have to be micro chipped and registered.
• All new registrations of your dogs have to be done through a vet in Aegina and your dog has to be micro chipped and registered into the Aegina registry
• For all dogs who already have been micro chipped and registered before, you will need to bring the certificate of electronic identification and your dog to the municipality

What is the process how you can register

If your dog is not yet micro chipped:

The Greek law xxx/xxx requires every dog to be micro chipped and registered. That is also good for you because in case your dog gets lost, you can easily reunite with your dog when your dog gets found and brought to the vet. The vet will have a micro chip scanner and by scanning the microchip, the vet can contact you to reunite you with your dog.

Follow the four steps of micro chipping and registering your dog in order to follow the law and win: 

1. Take your dog to any of the Aegina vets and ask the vet to micro chip and register. Micro chipping will only take a few minutes.

2. Once your dog is micro chipped, your vet will hand you two papers of the certification of electronic identification. 

3. Bring one of the papers of the certificate of electronic identification to the mayors office to the hands of Adonis xxx. The second paper is for your records

4. When you hand in the paper with the municipality, you will be attributed with a number: e.g., if you are the 4th person that enters the lottery, you will get the number 0004. The municipality will give you a dog tag with your lottery number engraved.  Keep that dog tag as a record.   

If your dog has been micro chipped and registered before the lottery started: 

The Greek law xxx/xxx requires every dog to be micro chipped and registered. It is great that you have already micro chipped and registered your dog in the past, so that in case of him getting lost, you can be easily reunited. 

1. Take your dog and your certificate to any of the Aegina vets.

2. Your vet will scan the microchip of your dog and confirm that the microchip corresponds to your certificate of electronic identification.

3. Bring the paper of the certificate of electronic identification and the confirmation of the vet that your dogs microchip corresponds to the certificate to the mayors office to the hands of Adonis xxx. Bring your dog as well, as we would love to meet him.

4. When you hand in the paper with the municipality, you will be attributed with a number: e.g., if you are the 4th person that enters the lottery, you will get the number 0004. The municipality will hand you a dog tag with the number engraved, which serves as proof that your dog has entered the lottery. Keep that  dog tag as a record.   

How does the lottery work

The Aegina dog microchip lottery will be based on the results of the National Lottery in order to make it as transparent and flawless as possible. Depending on how many people are in the lottery, every two weeks the last digits of the National Lottery will decide who will win the Aegina Dog Microchip Lottery.

For example, if you are the 4th participant in the Aegina dog micro chip lottery of 90 participants and the last digit of the National Lottery are 04, you will win EUR 200.

For example, if you are the 20th participant in the Aegina dog micro chip lottery of 200 participants and the last three digits of the National Lottery are 020, you will win EUR 200.

For example, if you are the 153rd participant in the Aegina dog microchip lottery of 1000 participants and the last four digits of the National Lottery are 0153, you will win EUR 200, and so forth.

If nobody wins, the EUR 200 will be rolled over to the next drawing 2 weeks later, and the price money will increase to EUR 400. 

How do you get notified that you won

Your certificate of electronic identification contains your telephone number. Make sure you have an up to date telephone number on your certificate of electronic identification. 

Every two weeks we will check who has won and will call the number on the certificate of electronic identification that corresponds to the winner.

How do you claim your price 

You will need to come with your dog to the mayors office and meet with Adonis XXX and claim your EUR 200 check. If the mayor is in the office, he will want to congratulate you in-person.
