Individual Impact Of Individual Lives Saved
bamboo almost died tied up on a tree but now has how own lake and forest
Born in Jan 2013, rescued in 2017, adopted in January 2019
Breed: “Mr previously terrified of humans who defecated on himself when found starving on a tree”. Bamboo because he bends but doesn’t break
Current Home: With Maureen and Jo and their family
My story:
I was found abandoned, tied to a tree in the forest of Aegina, Greece, without food nor water, left to starve to death. I must have been tied to that tree for days. I was terrified of humans. It took us several attempts to free me. I was so scared of humans that I couldn’t hold my pee. I urinated on myself out of fear with my tail tucked in between my legs, shivering of fear.
Once I was rescued and brought to the shelter, I did not leave my box for hours.
I stayed at the local shelter in Greece for 2 years where I got the love and care that I needed to completely turn around. I am a miracle dog and that is where I have my name from: Bamboo, because Bamboo bends but does not break. After only a few weeks upon arrival, I started to open up to people and soon after, I was ready for adoption. ZSP says that they had never met a dog that showed such a miraculous transformation, from a scared puppy to one of the most amazing dogs they ever met.
Sadly, in Greece with over 1 million stray dogs in a country of 10 million people, it is hard to find a good home and it was decided to fly me to NYC, and soon after found my amazing home with Maureen and Jo and their beautiful serene house on the lake in Massachusetts. I have my own forest and my own private beach and two boats in summer time to explore the lake (let’s see whether I will like water!). I am still a little wary of men and it will take some time, but the family loves me to the moon and back and I finally found the home I deserve.
It is estimated that I am a mix of shepherd, shar-pei, collie and a bit of Labrador.
I found my forever home and a happy ending. From a dog tied to a tree, left to die to a regal dog living with the Royals in the most amazing house I have ever seen in my life. I now live like a king and follow Maureen everywhere. I am her dog. Thank you Zero Stray Pawject who bended over backwards for me and made my miracle come true!
